Nonprofit Leadership, Fundraising & Communications

Purpose

Strengthen the funding, visibility, partnerships, and organizational systems needed to sustain survivor services. My work connected fundraising and communications with program priorities while helping build a community grounded in respect, safety, and belonging.

Results

  • Secured and managed more than $6.9 million in government grants and contracts.

  • Increased the grant portfolio by a sustained 30%.

  • Contributed to organizational growth from an annual budget below $1 million to approximately $2.2 million.

  • Co-created the organization’s first endowment fund.

  • Chaired a 50th anniversary campaign that exceeded its $80,000 fundraising goal.

  • Developed an anniversary history campaign that brought former staff and leadership into the celebration and recognized their contributions.

My Role

As Development Director, I led fundraising and communications strategy across government grants, private foundations, individual giving, corporate support, and major events. I supervised and coached development staff and worked with organizational leadership and program teams to align funding with community needs.

My responsibilities included writing grant proposals, reports, and donor communications; developing campaign messaging; designing materials; coordinating sponsors and partners; and managing projects from planning through completion.

I also strengthened the systems supporting this work. I developed recurring workflows with clear responsibilities, deadlines, dependencies, and review checkpoints to help staff coordinate grant reporting and other shared projects.

Across these responsibilities, I combined strategic leadership with hands-on writing, design, relationship building, and implementation.

50th Anniversary Campaign

As campaign director, I established the campaign’s goals and wrote, designed, and directed its messaging and execution. The campaign connected fundraising with an organizational history project celebrating 50 years of survivor advocacy, healing, and community.

We exceeded our $80,000 fundraising goal and involved former staff and leadership in the anniversary event, connecting the organization’s history with its continuing work.

For the 50th anniversary, I developed a history campaign that connected archival materials and organizational milestones with the people who helped shape the Rape Recovery Center.

The project supported anniversary communications and created an opportunity to recognize previous staff and leadership as part of the organization’s continuing story.
